Join us at the Cradle of Forestry for a special Crosscut Sharpening Demonstration presented by the Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) and the American Conservation Experience (ACE)!
This hands-on demo will showcase the traditional craft of maintaining and sharpening crosscut saws. These are the same tools once used to build and maintain America’s early trails and forests! Visitors will have the opportunity to watch experienced filers at work, learn how these saws are cared for, and discover how traditional tools continue to play a vital role in wilderness stewardship today.
The event will be led by Joshua Burt, National Saw Coordinator and Forestry Specialist with ACE, along with members of the SAWS team.
Whether you’re a trail volunteer, forestry enthusiast, or simply curious about the tools that shaped our public lands, this is a unique chance to see traditional skills in action!
