Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards is a “non-profit dedicated to providing stewardship to protected public lands in the Southern Appalachian region, including in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Arkansas and Kentucky.” Members from SAWS will be making their way to Brasstown Bald to educate visitors on forest conservation and techniques used to manage the forest. SAWS will be showcasing various saws and tools used to remove trees and branches. They will also be demonstrating how to cut a log using a crosscut saw throughout the day.
