Join The "Race to Restore"!
In August of 2021, Tropical Storm Fred barreled through the Southeast, including Pisgah National Forest. Torrential rains, flooding and high winds decimated many of the trails that are used by visitors and locals alike every day.
FIND Outdoors is thrilled to be partnering with local trail organizations such as Pisgah Area SORBA, to help collect donations in order to rebuild and rehabilitate these trail systems that we all love. Donate today, and join the “Race to Restore” Pisgah National Forest!
Help us reach our fundraising goal!
Due to Tropical Storm Fred and the ongoing efforts to assess, rehabilitate and protect the trails within the Pisgah Ranger District, FIND Outdoors recently made the difficult decision to cancel its biggest fundraiser for the Cradle of Forestry – The Cradle to Grave 30K/10K, which was to be held on September 18th. This decision aligns with and further strengthens our mission to:
- Ensure the health and longevity of our beloved Pisgah National Forest and its trails.
- Promote and ensure the stewardship of impacted trail systems on all public lands.
- Promote responsible recreation (#responsiblerecreation) and Leave No Trace principles at all times.
- Support our local EMS professionals, local law enforcement and the US Forest Service in their desire to keep all visitors to our public lands safe at all times.
However! We are so thrilled to continue working with the incredible, local sponsors listed below and race participants to pivot those dollars towards the difficult task of trail rehabilitation in areas such as the 6,500-acre Pink Beds Valley. This area was hit incredibly hard with total trail loss in some areas, destroyed bridges and boardwalks, and debris covering sections of the trail networks. This fundraising campaign has been given the name “The Race to Restore“ and will be a HUGE step for FIND’s mission of stewardship of our public lands!
For more information, view our press release.
Your donation dollars will be seen for generations, and used to fund the following:
The replacement of bridges and boardwalks that make the Pink Beds unique.
Rerouting trails that were
flooded and heavily eroded.
Clearing debris from all trails.
Equipment, manpower and
support of other nonprofits
looking to make a difference on our public lands.
Sponsors & Partners
We’d like to thank these companies and organizations for their generous support of the Race to Restore initiative. Without them, this idea never would’ve gotten off the ground. And a special ‘shout out’ to our 2021 (almost) racers who donated their race registration for this campaign to better our trails for future endeavors. You are ALL making a difference!
