The Story…
Due to Tropical Storm Fred and the ongoing efforts to assess, rehabilitate and protect the trails within the Pisgah Ranger District, FIND Outdoors recently made the difficult decision to cancel its biggest fundraiser for the Cradle of Forestry – The Cradle to Grave 30K/10K, which was to be held on September 18th. This decision aligns with and further strengthens our mission to:
- Ensure the health and longevity of our beloved Pisgah National Forest and its trails.
- Promote and ensure the stewardship of impacted trail systems on all public lands.
- Promote responsible recreation (#responsiblerecreation) and Leave No Trace principles at all times.
- Support our local EMS professionals, local law enforcement and the US Forest Service in their desire to keep all visitors to our public lands safe at all times.
The Opportunity…
However! We are so thrilled to continue working with the incredible, local sponsors listed below and race participants to pivot those dollars towards the difficult task of trail rehabilitation in areas such as the 6,500-acre Pink Beds Valley. This area was hit incredibly hard with total trail loss in some areas, destroyed bridges and boardwalks, and debris covering sections of the trail networks. This fundraising campaign has been given the name “The Race to Restore“ and will be a HUGE step for FIND’s mission of stewardship of our public lands!
