The Appalachian Trail is a 2,185 mile long public footpath that traverses the scenic, wooded, pastoral, wild, and culturally resonant lands of the Appalachian Mountains. Conceived in 1921, built by private citizens, and completed in 1937, today the trails is managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Appalachian Trail conservancy, numerous state agencies and thousands of volunteers. The Trail passes through fourteen states along the Appalachian mountain range from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Katahdin, Maine.
Hiking medallions are increasingly popular in the United States and have been a longstanding tradition in Europe. This medallion may be gently shaped to fit on hiking staffs, paddles, etc. Pre-drilling holes for the included nails is recommended to affix your medallion.
