South Toe Road is accessible up to Black Mountain Campground. Hiking, biking, horseback riding, vehicular traffic and camping is prohibited on that road and 50’ from the centerline from both directions with the exception of being able to cross the road just at the intersection of South River Trail Loop and South Toe Rd.
Hiking trails around Black Mountain Campground are open. We urge all visitors to exercise caution on the trails and to plan ahead and prepare before visiting any public lands.
An opening date is planned for mid-September. Once the State grant manager and local USFS staff approve the work, the trail will be officially opened.
Closures include Sliding Rock. Due to the flooding, entire channels have been rerouted and for now we’d advise finding an alternate location to enjoy the water, for your safety and the safety of emergency responders.
