Camping in the Old Style - Cradle of Forestry

Camping in the Old Style will take place on October 10th, where the classic camping interpretive team known as the Acorn Patrol will demonstrate the low-tech/high-skill approach as practiced in the outdoors during what some historians consider the “Golden Age of Camping” (between 1880 and 1930).  They will re-create fixed camps where past recreationists would use campfire cookery, study nature, and relax in the outdoors.  They will engage visitors in camp activities such as fire-making, cooking, preparing a bed with a straw tick and wool blankets, tying knots, and the leisure of playing music.

Cost: Free with paid site admission.

Parking: Parking in the Cradle of Forestry parking lot, where you will check in at the gift shop and pay the standard entrance fee.

Schedule: Drop in anytime from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

On-site location: Located in the corral across from the blacksmith shop on the Biltmore Campus Trail.
