Program Details

The ecology of North Georgia is unlike any other. North Georgia, especially Brasstown Bald, is home to a unique climate, a variety of colorful wildflowers, and even some endangered species. But what makes Brasstown Bald so different?

FIND Outdoors is teaming up with geologists Dr. Bill Witherspoon to discover how the geology of North Georgia has influenced the development of the area. Dr. Witherspoon will lead a hike through the site and discuss the unique geological attributes of Brasstown Bald.

Before the hike, Dr. Bill Witherspoon who co-authored “Roadside Geology of Georgia,” will hold a book signing. There will also be a table full of hand-out information, rock samples, and activities for participants and guests not attending the program.

FIND Outdoors is excited to dive deep into the ecology and geology of Brasstown Bald with Dr. Witherspoon. We hope to see you there.
