Come to the Gladie Visitor Center and help us celebrate public lands day within YOUR public lands!

Program Details

We like to celebrate our public lands EVERY DAY but we will be celebrating a little extra on this day! Immerse yourself in our public lands by participating in a trash clean up supported by FIND Outdoors, the Daniel Boone National Forest, and Powell County Tourism Committee. Collection supplies will be available at Gladie Visitor’s Center and Slade Welcome Center. Use them to either pick up trash in your explorations of the gorge or while walking along the grounds of Gladie. Bonus prizes given if you return your found and bagged trash from the gorge area to the Gladie Center for disposal!

We will also accept bagged trash collected in the gorge to be brought back to Gladie for prizes on Sunday, September 24th.

FIND Outdoors Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our people and places are facing significant challenges. Your support is crucial in helping us restore and reopen these vital spaces.

Here’s how your donation can make a profound impact:

  • Repair and Restoration of Public Lands

Your contribution will directly fund the rebuilding of bridges and boardwalks damaged by flooding, rerouting heavily eroded trails, and clearing debris from our beautiful outdoor areas. These spaces are not just paths and parks; they are the backdrop for family memories, adventures, and connections to nature.

  • Education on Emergency Preparedness

We’re committed to empowering our communities with the knowledge and resources to prepare for future emergencies, ensuring everyone can enjoy the great outdoors safely.

  • Support for Displaced Employees

Many people who care for public lands have been affected by the storm. Your generosity will help provide them with vital support during this challenging time.
