Where do our birds fly for the winter? Why do some birds prefer certain trees for nesting over others? What kinds of plants are some of my favorite birds attracted to? Learn all about our avian friends throughout the seasons in our first-ever lecture series at Brasstown Bald!
Join us on Sunday, March 29th at 2:00 pm as we welcome ornithologist and past-president of the Atlanta Audubon Society, Georgann Schmalz, to take us through a year in the life of a bird.
About the speaker: As an experienced ornithologist and zoologist, Georgann is also an accomplished educator, having taught ecology and ornithology for over 28 years. She is a three time Past-President of the Atlanta Audubon Society and created an Audubon Master Birder Program in addition to the annual Wildlife Sanctuary Tour of gardens in the Atlanta area. She has written over 45 articles for journals, including the Georgia Ornithological Society; her field experience, masterful discourse, and clearly her passion for the subject, make her a celebrated voice in the ornithological community, and one we are thrilled to host as our first guest speaker of the Stewards of the Summit series!
Please arrive at least 25-30 minutes early; you will need to use our shuttle service or walk the Summit path to the mountaintop amphitheater!
