Event Details

A recent study confirmed that even urban areas across the U.S. that were once considered beyond the reach of wildfires are now vulnerable to disaster. As wild fires increasingly spread deep into neighborhoods, researchers estimate roughly 115 million people — more than a third of the U.S. population — live in areas that could host the next wildfire catastrophe. North Carolina is #1 in the Nation in terms of the number of acres where forests and homes meet. In this presentation Robert Beanblossom, will discuss “Wildfires in the Southeast” an in-depth discussion of the number of wildfires occurring each year, their causes and the potential for mega-fires in the region.
