Woodring Branch, located on Carter’s Lake in North Georgia, is a quiet, wooded destination ideal for primitive camping, fishing, and boating. The campground features 11 primitive campsites nestled in a heavily wooded area, along with two loop trails for exploring the natural surroundings. Visitors can enjoy convenient amenities, including a campground only boat ramp, a small designated beach area, and a life jacket station available at the gatehouse.

 

Whether you are planning a peaceful overnight stay or a day on the water, Woodring Branch offers a simple and scenic outdoor experience. Check-in begins at 3 PM, and check-out is at 12 PM, making it easy to plan your visit and enjoy all that Carter’s Lake has to offer.

Directions

From Atlanta, take I-75 north to Exit 293; follow Highway 411 north. Turn right on Highway 136, then left on old Highway . Turn right on Highway 282/76. Campground is located 4.5 miles off Highway 282.

From Ellijay, GA, take Highway 282/76 west for 11 miles to the access road and follow signs to the campground.

Yes. All pets must be penned, caged, or on a leash under six feet in length.

Camp hosts are typically available from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Doll Mountain Campground & Recreation Area

Doll Mountain Campground & Recreation Area is managed by FIND Outdoors, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carter’s Lake. Located in the North Georgia Mountains, Doll Mountain offers boating, picnicking at the day-use area, camping, and many other summer-time activities. 

Harris Branch Beach Recreation Area

Harris Branch Beach Recreation is managed by FIND Outdoors, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carter’s Lake. Boaters can enjoy its solitude and scenic beauty. Whether you are boating, paddling, or hanging out in the sun, this area is perfect for a relaxing day. 

Damsite Recreation Area

Locals may know of the smaller day-use area, called Blue Ridge Lake Recreation Area, just across the lake from Morganton Point, on its own sheltered peninsula. The remnants of the old campground provide the perfect backdrop to walk your favorite furry friend, take the kids for a bike ride, or just stroll along the lakeside.
