Spectacular Anna Ruby Falls lies in the heart of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest and has become one of North Georgia’s premier spots to visit. The Recreation Area consists of a visitor center with local crafts, educational items and clothing, picnic spots, fishing, and of course the paved hiking trail to the spectacular twin waterfalls. Throughout the year, the Visitor Center hosts public programs and activities ranging from stargazing to viewing the Foxfire – a bioluminescent insect larva that glows in the dark! Taking a trip to Helen, GA? Anna Ruby Falls is a short drive away, and only a few hours from Atlanta. In short, we’re the perfect place to relax and unwind! Be sure to visit our other beautiful Recreation Area, Brasstown Bald, located just a short drive away!
From Helen, GA, head west on GA-17 N/GA-75 N/N Main St/Unicoi Turnpike toward White Strasse. Turn right onto GA-356 E. Slight left onto Anna Ruby Falls Rd. Turn left to stay on Anna Ruby Falls Rd. Slight left.

Anna Ruby Falls Trail: This 0.4-mile paved foot trail takes you along the banks of Smith Creek from the visitor center to the two observation decks near the base of the twin waterfalls. There are a couple of short, steep sections along the trail but benches are available to catch your breath. Most people are able to make the round trip without any problems. Sorry wheelchairs are not able to make it up the trail due to steep inclines.
Lion’s Eye Foot Trail: Designed for people with visual impairments, the Lion’s Eye Trail features a cable hand rail to help guide you from one interpretive sign to the next. The signs are written in both regular text and in braille. The trail is paved and is 0.1 mile long and is wheelchair accessible.
Smith Creek Foot Trail: This trail links the Anna Ruby Falls trail to Unicoi State Park. The 4.6-mile hike leaves the Anna Ruby Falls Trail near the upper bridge across Smith Creek and leads to the campground in Unicoi Park.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our people and places are facing significant challenges. Your support is crucial in helping us restore and reopen these vital spaces.
Here’s how your donation can make a profound impact:
Your contribution will directly fund the rebuilding of bridges and boardwalks damaged by flooding, rerouting heavily eroded trails, and clearing debris from our beautiful outdoor areas. These spaces are not just paths and parks; they are the backdrop for family memories, adventures, and connections to nature.
We’re committed to empowering our communities with the knowledge and resources to prepare for future emergencies, ensuring everyone can enjoy the great outdoors safely.
Many people who care for public lands have been affected by the storm. Your generosity will help provide them with vital support during this challenging time.
