Woodring Primitive Campground beautiful primitive tent camping sites on Carters Lake!

Woodring Primitive Campground, located on Carter’s Lake in North Georgia, is a quiet, wooded destination ideal for primitive camping. The campground features 11 primitive campsites nestled in a heavily wooded area, along with two loop trails for exploring the natural surroundings.

Whether you are planning a peaceful overnight stay or a day on the water, Woodring Primitive Campground offers a simple and scenic outdoor experience. Check-in begins at 3 PM, and check-out is at 12 PM, making it easy to plan your visit and enjoy all that Carter’s Lake has to offer.

Directions

From Atlanta, take I-75 north to Exit 293; follow Highway 411 north. Turn right on Highway 136, then left on old Highway . Turn right on Highway 282/76. Campground is located 4.5 miles off Highway 282.

From Ellijay, GA, take Highway 282/76 west for 11 miles to the access road and follow signs to the primitive campground.

Is the Woodring Primitive Campground a part of the Woodring Developed Campground?

No. The Woodring Primitive Campground and Woodring Developed Campgrounds are two separate areas.

Am I allowed access to the Woodring Developed Campground swimming area?

No. Visitors with a reseveration to the Woodring Primitive Campground do not have access to the Woodring Developed Campground swimming area.

Am I allowed access to the Woodring Developed Campground bathrooms & facilities?

No. Visitors with a reseveration to the Woodring Primitive Campground do not have access to the Woodring Developed Campground bathrooms & facilities.

May I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash or kenneled at all times. Please clean up after your pet!

Are visitors allowed?

No visitors allowed. Registered campers only.

What are the hours?

Check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM
Camp hosts are typically available from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Do you accept America the Beautiful Passes?

Holders of an America the Beautiful Interagency Annual, Interagency Senior Pass, Interagency Access Pass, Interagency Military Pass, Interagency Volunteer Pass, Every Kid in a Park Pass, and Golden Age Passport or Golden Access Passport may utilize day use areas nationwide, for no fee, provided the owner of the pass is present.
