Every year we have the great honor of celebrating Smokey Bear’s Birthday here at the Cradle of Forestry. Help us celebrate his Birthday!

Program Details

Join us on this fee-free day as part of our excitement and gratitude for our forests! You’ll have the chance to meet and take photos with Smokey Bear, listen to his real-life story of how he became our fire prevention symbol, and of course…what’s a birthday celebration without cake?

Plan Your Visit

Format & Participation Type: This is an all-day celebration of our Forest Service’s most beloved national fire prevention symbol! While Cradle of Forestry will open at 10:00 am as usual, official festivities will begin around 11:00 am and throughout the day. See the schedule below for more details of the day’s itinerary!

Activities:

Smokey Bear Mask Craft
Fire Rescue Obstacle Course
Temporary Tattoo Station

Food:

Brit’s Sweet Treats Food Truck – serving soft serve ice cream
Smokee’s Pizza Food Truck
Cradle Cafe will be open as well!

Schedule:

- 11:30 AM: Smokey Bear meet ‘n’ greet (located in the Perkins Room)
- 12:00 PM: Smokey Story read-aloud in the Perkins Room
- 12:30 PM: Smokey Bear meet ‘n’ greet (located in the Perkins Room)
- 1:30 PM: Singing Happy Birthday to Smokey himself, with cake cutting and serving to follow!
