Van Hook Glade Campground is approximately four miles from the heart of Highlands, NC in Nantahala National Forest and very close to Franklin, NC. This small, secluded campground is directly across the street from the beautiful Cullasaja River. Up the hill from the campground, you’ll find Cliffside Lake Recreation Area, a tucked-away haven of tranquility, where you can swim, fish, hike, picnic, and take part in family nature programs. Gather your favorite people and escape the everyday routine at Van Hook Glade Campground and Cliffside Lake Recreation Area.
Road work on Highlands Road is scheduled to take place daily for several weeks in the Highlands area close to Cliffside and Van Hook Glade. Detour to those areas using Buck Creek Road 2.5 miles BEFORE you get to highlands on 64. That road will take you to 64 just below Cliffside and Van Hook Glade. Make a left on 64 and travel for around 6 miles and the entrance will be on your left.
The entrance to Van Hook Glade Campground is adjacent to the entrance of Cliffside Lake Recreation Area, off of Hwy. 64.
