Cradle of Forestry
Events & Programs
Learn, Explore and Connect
Throughout the operating season, FIND Outdoors offers programs and special events at the Cradle of Forestry that help visitors connect with the forests, history, and culture of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. These experiences can add something special to your visit, whether you are joining a guided walk, attending a wildlife program, taking part in a hands-on activity, or visiting during a seasonal celebration.
Programming changes throughout the season, so every visit can feel a little different and offer something new to discover. Families, students, nature lovers, and returning visitors can find new ways to learn about forest conservation, local wildlife, Appalachian heritage, and the story of America’s first forestry school through engaging, hands-on experiences.
What You Can Expect
Programs and events may include guided nature walks, wildlife and conservation programs, forestry demonstrations, traditional Appalachian crafts, educational workshops, children’s activities, seasonal celebrations, guest speakers, and special presentations.
Because event schedules vary, visitors are encouraged to check the current calendar before planning their trip. Some programs may require advance registration, tickets, or additional information before arrival.
Plan Your Visit Around an Event
Many visitors choose to plan their Cradle of Forestry visit around a program or special event. These experiences give you a chance to learn from educators and interpreters, ask questions, take part in hands-on activities, and gain a deeper understanding of the natural and cultural history that makes the Cradle such a meaningful place to explore.
