Waterfalls and Scenic Stops Along US-276
The Cradle is located near several popular natural attractions in Pisgah National Forest. Sliding Rock is one of the best-known stops in the area, especially during warmer months. Visitors can watch from the observation area or, when weather and operations allow, experience the natural rock slide.
Looking Glass Falls is another favorite nearby stop because it is visible from the road and offers a short walk to a viewing area. It is one of the easiest waterfall stops to add to a Cradle visit, especially for families or visitors who want a scenic stop without a long hike.
For visitors who want a slightly longer forest walk, Moore Cove Falls offers an easy trail through the woods to a waterfall viewing platform. Pounding Mill Overlook is one of the closest high-value Parkway stops for mountain views and photos. The Mount Pisgah area offers hiking, picnic opportunities, and nearby historic stops, including Buck Spring Lodge. Visitors looking for a more dramatic overlook experience can continue toward Graveyard Fields or Devil’s Courthouse, both popular Parkway destinations with trails, waterfalls, and mountain views.
