A flying…mammal?! Come visit our DNR Educator for an exploration into the flighty lives of these amazingly unique nocturnal mammals!
Did you know that bats are the only mammals in the world capable of true and sustained flight? These discreet creatures of the night do wonders for the ecosystem during the day. Bats are responsible for all the mosquitoes and tiny biting insects you don’t brush off of your arm, and can easily consume up to 1000 mosquitoes in just one hour! As if that isn’t enough to be grateful to these animals for, they also make ideal pollinators and are responsible for a variety of our crops’ successes. Come learn more about these nocturnal animals and why the need for their conservation is vital to all of us…well, except to the mosquitoes.
