Join us at Harris Branch Beach Recreation Area for an exploration into the geologic and cultural history that has shaped our Blue Ridge Mountains for centuries. Learn how the Appalachian Mountains formed to become among the oldest ranges in the world. You’ll also learn how to make your own topographical mountain and create a special craft that reflects the cultural significance of mountaintops in Cherokee symbolism!

Getting there: Follow signs for the Harris Branch Day Use Area. You can use the following address: 1300 Harris Branch Rd, Ellijay, GA 30540. Continue through the first gate until you reach the playground area, with the beach turnoff to your right. Do not turn onto the beach: the event will take place next to the playground area, where restrooms and parking are available! You’ll see the educator nearby ready to greet you!

Parking: Visitors can park in the playground area.

Physical location at site: This event takes place at the playground area before turning onto the beach. 

Participation Type: This event is between 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM; feel free to drop in at anytime!
