10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Experience Birds of Prey Up Close
We’re excited to have our long-time partners at Georgia Mountain Falconry joining us at Carters Lake for the first time! You’ll get the chance to view owls, hawks, and falcons, all while learning how these majestic animals help our ecosystem and the food chain in the wild. Georgia Mountain’s Master Falconers will share their experience working with their raptors, offering us a glimpse into the unique relationship between falconer and falcon.
Plan Your Visit
Getting There: Visitors should route to Northbank Park at Carters Lake, and will pass through a day use fee booth for admission to the site. This is also the location of the Astronomy Field.
Parking & Fees: Please park in any designated parking area around the Northbank Park Loop.
Format & Participation: Stop by anytime between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to see our local falconers and their birds of prey. As storytellers by nature, our partners have a wealth of knowledge and experience eager to share with everyone!
On-site location: Our partners at Georgia Mountain Falconry will have their exhibits (i.e., their raptors) stationed underneath the pavilion area. If you are coming to this event in addition to enjoying the site itself, please feel free to use the area! We kindly ask that any picnic lunches be enjoyed in pavilion and picnic areas other than where our falconers will be situated.
Please note: Raptors are majestic creatures and are vital to the health of our environment and our falconers are trained professionals who want to share their passion with us. We ask that our visitors respect our feathered guests through calm observation and appreciation from a safe distance of at least 4 feet. We also ask to please leave your pets at home! Should you have pets with you, please keep them out of view as much as possible. Raptors are wild predators and their behavior can be unpredictable around other animals. Following these guidelines will keep you safe and will allow everyone – and every bird – to enjoy an unforgettable experience!
