What kind of snake is THAT? Join our DNR Educator and her slithering friends to find out!
Our native snakes have developed some impressive adaptations for surviving in the Appalachian Mountains! From the venomous Timber Rattlesnake to the non-venomous Eastern Rat Snake, all of our local Serpentes share the element of biodiversity, having adapted and diversified to the state’s 5 topographic regions. In fact, Georgia is home to over 45 native snakes! Don’t worry; only 6 of them are venomous, yet all are unique. Come learn about the curious world of these reptiles, such as why some have green-tipped tails when young, while others are only venomous to amphibians. You’ll even get to meet a few!
The program takes place on Thursday, July 9th, at 2:00 PM at Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area.
