Brasstown Bald is staying open late on two November Saturdays, so you can catch the sunset from the highest point in Georgia!

Event Details

This isn’t a program or a guided event. It’s simply more time on the mountain! On Saturday, November 14 and Saturday, November 28, Brasstown Bald stays open until 6:30 PM, giving visitors a chance to watch the sun go down from Georgia’s highest peak.

The shuttle runs later than usual and the Forest Store stays open late too. Sunset is around 5:30 PM.

Please keep in mind that we can’t promise a clear sunset. Clouds, fog and rain are all part of mountain weather, so check the forecast before you head up.

Plan Your Visit

Getting there: Please follow the marked signs into the site and stop at the front ticket booth first.
Parking & Fees: Please park in the main parking lot. Regular entrance fees apply and can be paid at the ticket booth or gift shop when you arrive.
Format & Participation: Self-guided. There’s no program or scheduled activity, just extended hours to enjoy the summit at sunset.
Schedule: Open until 6:30 PM. The last shuttle up leaves at 5:30 PM sharp, and the last shuttle down leaves at 6:30 PM sharp. On busy evenings, the last shuttle up may leave a little earlier so everyone makes it to the top in time for sunset. Buildings and the Forest Store close at 6:30 PM. After hours, visitors can choose to hike down on their own using the Summit Trail. Please note there’s no overnight camping at Brasstown Bald.
On-site Location: The Visitor Center and main parking lot area, with shuttle service up to the summit.
Fee structure: Free with Paid Admission to Site
