Brasstown Bald
Events & Programs
Learn, Explore and Connect
Throughout the year, FIND Outdoors offers programs and special events at Brasstown Bald that help visitors explore the wildlife, plants, trails, history, night sky, and high-elevation environment of the North Georgia mountains. These experiences offer new ways to enjoy the summit, whether you are meeting a live animal, learning about native plants, exploring Appalachian Trail history, joining a stewardship event, or viewing the night sky from Georgia’s highest point.
Programming changes throughout the year, giving families, students, hikers, nature enthusiasts, and returning visitors different opportunities to connect with Brasstown Bald and the surrounding Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.
What You Can Expect
Programs and events may include wildlife presentations, astronomy nights, native-plant programs, Appalachian Trail activities, natural- and cultural-history experiences, children’s activities, public-lands celebrations, stewardship events, guest speakers, and hands-on learning opportunities.
Past and recurring programs have explored black bears, snakes, bats, birds of prey, mountain geology, native plants, the Appalachian Trail, and responsible care for public lands.
Some activities are offered throughout regular operating hours and are included with site admission. Others take place at scheduled times, require advance registration, or have a separate ticket fee. Event locations may also vary between the main parking area, visitor center, summit, observation deck, theater, or nearby trails.
Plan Your Visit Around an Event
Special programs provide an opportunity to learn from FIND Outdoors educators and community partners, ask questions, and experience Brasstown Bald from a different perspective.
Because events may be affected by mountain weather, visibility, trail conditions, or seasonal operations, visitors should review the complete event listing before arriving. Check the scheduled time, admission or ticket requirements, meeting location, recommended clothing and supplies, shuttle information, and cancellation policies.
Evening programs may involve colder temperatures and limited artificial lighting. Follow the preparation and arrival instructions provided for the specific event.
Educational Visits and Group Programs
FIND Outdoors also offers educational opportunities for schools, families, and organized groups. Self-guided activities may be available during regular visits, while guided programs, tours, and field trips require advance arrangements.
