This accessibility information is provided to help visitors feel prepared, welcomed, and informed before arriving at Gladie Visitor Center. Because the site includes indoor visitor facilities, historic features, natural-surface trails, and changing outdoor conditions, accessibility may vary by location, weather, moisture, sand, mud, debris, maintenance needs, and other seasonal conditions.
Visitor Center and Gift Shop
Gladie Visitor Center is accessible and can be entered without using stairs. The interior provides access to visitor information, interpretive exhibits, the gift shop, and other visitor services. Visitors with specific access needs are encouraged to speak with staff when they arrive or contact the site before visiting for the most current information about facilities and outdoor conditions.
Parking and Restrooms
Two designated accessible parking spaces are located at the front of the visitor center.
The upper parking lot also includes designated spaces for buses, RVs, and trailers along the tree line.
Restrooms are located inside the visitor center and are available during operating hours. Both the men’s and women’s restrooms include one ADA-accessible stall.
On-Site Trails
Gladie’s on-site trails offer an opportunity to explore the grounds and surrounding natural environment. Weather permitting, the trails can generally accommodate motorized mobility devices.
These remain natural outdoor trails, so visitors should expect conditions to vary. Rain, mud, loose material, roots, leaves, debris, and other natural or seasonal conditions may make portions of the trails more difficult to navigate.
Many of the on-site trails include several sandy sections that may be more challenging for some mobility devices. Conditions can also change after rain or periods of wet weather.
Visitors using a motorized mobility device or anyone concerned about trail conditions is encouraged to ask staff about current conditions before beginning their outdoor adventure.
Historic Gladie Cabin
The historic Gladie Cabin includes a ramp providing an accessible approach to the structure.
There is not currently a designated accessible parking space at the cabin itself. Visitors with mobility concerns are encouraged to speak with Gladie staff about the best way to access the cabin during their visit.
Cabin access and programming may vary depending on staffing, scheduled programs, and current site conditions.
Service Animals and Pets
Service animals are permitted in accordance with applicable law.
Pets are welcome in designated outdoor areas when leashed, well behaved, and under control. Pets are not permitted inside the visitor center. Visitors are responsible for cleaning up after their animals and should keep them away from wildlife and restricted areas.
